The lodge at the Krippenstein | Dachstein

From June to September you have the opportunity to visit our own pet zoo.

“5 fingers” great view of the Welterberegion and the numerous peaks of the Salzkammergut. For nerdy thrills ensures the built-glass floor, where you look around 400 meters into the abyss. The observation deck is lit until midnight, so it is easy to see at night from the valley. Distance from the lodge: 20 minutes return about 30 minutes.

Beautiful view of the Dachstein glacier and the plateau “Am Stein”. Here you will find the names of the surrounding mountains on the large information board.

Distance from the Lodge: 2 minutes

The highest point on Krippenstein at 2100 meters. The World Heritage Spiral is on the way to the “5 fingers” and offers more information and a fantastic panoramic view. Right next to it is the Heilbronn Chapel. This is to commemorate the mountain tragedy in 1954. The launch site of the paragliders is also located on the summit of Krippenstein. Here you will witness a great spectacle, in which the paragliders fly after their start high in the sky.

Distance from the Lodge: 15 minutes

The king of the primeval sea is back! The Dachstein Hai is the latest attraction on the Heilbronn circular route and offers visitors a glimpse of the prehistoric past of the Dachstein massif.

Walking time: 30 minutes back about 45 minutes

The path is also known as the karst trail. This leads through the beautiful karst landscape past the Heilbronnerkreuz to Gjaidstation. From there, the third section of the cable car takes you back to the Krippenstein. The circular route is also ideal for families, because there is always something to discover with the information boards. A short detour to the rugged Karrenfelder should not be missing.

Total walking time: approx. 2.5 to 3 hours

From the Heilbronnerrundwanderweg turn left at the intersection “Däumelsee” and then follow the “Steinmann Marker” to the summit. Even the free grazing sheep in summer like to climb this small peak. At the top there is also a summit cross waiting.

The Lodge am Krippenstein is an establishment for hikers. We can help you with the tour planning. You can also rent trekking poles.

Even in bad weather there is enough to do at the Krippenstein.

For example, you can visit the Dachstein Ice Cave and the Dachstein Mammoth Cave. During the 50-minute tours, you will experience first hand the ice and rock landscapes, the two naturally formed caves. These attractions are only a few minutes away from the Schönbergalm (1st section of the cable car) and are thus perfectly accessible for young and old.

After your refreshing, almost winter visit to the underworld, you are welcome to warm up with us at the lodge for coffee and cake.

But you are also welcome to spend a quiet hut afternoon playing games with us. Because separated from noise and the constant change of time you will be able to relax perfectly with us.
